San Francisco Ð Marking its transition to software, NeXT will come to NeXTWORLD Expo May 25 with NeXTSTEP for Intel processors ready in shrink wrap, the company said.
Numerous system manufacturers are expected to be exhibiting '486 and Pentium computers running NeXTSTEP. Attendees can register for a user conference, developer conference, or exhibits only. The user conference will focus on enterprise computing, using NeXT-STEP, customer experiences, and innovative third-party software. Two general sessions spotlight NeXTWORLD's Ten Most Wanted list and NeXT's prospects in the operating-system market.
The developer conference will address business opportunities and development tools and techniques. A session on porting to Intel hardware is also planned.
"We're working with our Expo partners to design a program for installed NeXT users and devel-opers, and PC customers interested in learning about NeXTSTEP," said Karen Steele, manager of marketing communications.
Special events will include a worldwide user-group conference sponsored by NOIR (NeXT Organizations International), NeXT-WORLD's first-annual product awards, and a reprise of last year's popular user-group auction.
The developer conference is $695 in advance or $745 on-site. The user conference is $195, or $245 on-site. Exhibit-only registration costs $25.
