Goldleaf ships tools for prepress

by Dan Lavin

Larkspur, CA Ð Goldleaf added to its suite of publishing products this month with the release of eXTRACOLOR and eXTRACAL.

The $995 eXTRACOLOR is a color-correction and separation package designed to offer high-end prepress control. It comes with a library of custom calibration files to correct colors for specific devices. The separation module allows control over many basic and advanced separation parameters, such as black generation and output gradation. Users access eXTRACOLOR through the Services menu from within most applications.

Goldleaf's eXTRACAL is a software/hardware package for objective characterization of all devices used in the color-reproduction process: scanners, monitors, proof printers, imagesetters, and printing presses. The eXTRA-CAL software comes bundled with eXTRACOLOR; calibration hardware with eXTRACAL and eXTRACOLOR is $3000.

Goldleaf said it will follow through on its plan to port all of its products to the NeXTSTEP-Intel environment.
