Los Angeles Ð For NEXTSTEP users waiting for more wide-area connectivity tools, Ridgeback Solutions has released its multiarchitecture versions of NetWatch and AGeNT, the first SNMP-management package for NEXTSTEP.
NetWatch allows a network administrator to monitor SNMP MIB-I or MIB-II devices, such as bridges, routers, and hubs, while AGeNT allows a NEXTSTEP computer to be integrated into any SNMP network.
Supporting both NEXTSTEP and SunOS 4.1.x, NetWatch can automatically monitor network devices as well as send e-mail, dial pagers, run a user program, and keep an alarm log. Network administrators can use the alarm log to locate trouble before it brings down the network, the company said.
AGeNT is a complete implementation of the MIB-I and MIB-II specifications and has been tested with Hewlett-Packard's OpenView, IBM's NetView6000 and Sun Microsystems' SunNet Manager.
NetWatch is priced at $1995 and includes ten copies of AGeNT; additional copies of AGeNT are available for $120 per machine. discounts for volume purchases are also available. Ridgeback Solutions can be reached at 310/456-6094.
