New features for DataPhile

by Eliot Bergson

Albuquerque, NM Ð Stone Design was scheduled to ship Version 2.0 of its flat-file DataPhile product on September 1, offering users black- and white-hardware compatibility, bug fixes, and new features.

Along with fixing bugs in the original code that affected modified lists, icons, and unsaved databases, Stone concentrated on Intel compatibility and answering feedback from DataPhile 1.0 users.

"We had some concerns but they've definitely been fixed. Deleting all records, for example, is better. And that's something I need because I export a lot," said Janice Bethke, system trainer at Williams Telecommunications in The Woodlands, Texas and a beta tester for Version 2.0.

New features in the package in-clude a data well that allows draggable text versions of data, easier options access, unlimited undo, the capability to modify all records in a view, a new automatic index-rebuilding feature, and a hypertext on-line help system.

Stone offers special educational pricing and free upgrades to fat-binary versions of all its software purchased between February 12, 1993 and May 21, 1993. Stone Design: 505/345-4800.
