Ok, I managed to join the files into a working installer package. Basically, I just joined the .Z.1 and .Z.2 files into one .Z file and deleted the .dir* files.

Unfortunately, this Mathematica version is not for Intel, but for 68k processors  :(

Looks like I have to continue my quest...

how did you joint the files?

I want to try as I have a cube to test

You can join them with the command
cat Mathematica.tar.Z.1 Mathematica.tar.Z.2 > Mathematica.tar.Z.

Then delete the tar.Z.1 file from the Mathematica.pkg folder and replace it with the .tar.Z file. Delete the .dir* files and copy the .last file from the Disk 2 package.

If you have problems, I can upload the package I created.
