I know that BeOS is no Apple OS, but at last Mr. Gassee was somewhat Apple related so I'm asking my question in here. Hopefully within some days I will recieve the original packages from BeOS up to Version 4.5 - no copies, original boxes :)
I can't remember it clearly but I think that those later BeOS versions are Intel compatible. Is this true? What kind of Intel machine does it have to be?
As long as it is very difficult to get an original BeBox I would like to see the BeOS on another usable computer. Any hints?

Once again lots of Thank You's!

According to Wikipedia, BeOS R3 and later ran on Intel hardware (although there was limited support).

Yeah, newer versions of BeOS ran/run in Intel hardware. I used BeOS r5 Bone + hacks for about 3 years a efw years ago... I used it as my main OS. It has plenty of newer apps, like firefox and what not.

Theres an opensource project aiming to replicate BeOS and be 100% compatible with BeOS R5 while having more features and fixing a lot of the problems BeOS had. It's called Haiku. It's coming along nicely :) Already released an Alpha IIRC.
