It looks like tonight I will finally get to set up my turbo slab on a proper desk and be able to use it on a regular basis. It has only taken ... oh ... a decade!

I do have a few questions.

1. Assuming my crappy Verizon router is ok with it, all I should need to do to get online is set a proper static ip in net info manager, right?

2. Just for fun - will doom run on a mono slab? What do I need to do to get it running?

Ok, over excitement kept me from using the search function once again. Doom is working! Very Happy

I have managed to get my lan up and running on the next, and I think I just need to beat up Verizon for info so I can adjust my router.

I installed Omniweb 3.0 on the slab tonight and it is asking me for a licence key. Is Omnigroup still charging for it?

It's alive!

I managed to get the router to play ball. You would not believe the default password on that router! Yes, I changed it.

I'm still chuckling at 2 bit Doom! Laughing

Was 33mhz always this slow online, or did I configure something wrong? Maybe it's Omniweb? I turned off image auto-load. It doesn't seem reasonable that without images it would take 30 seconds + just to load a page.

It was never particularly fast on black hardware in my experience. If I recall correctly, it converts HTML to SGML, then converts that to RTF, then renders the RTF in a strict pipeline. I *think* if you launch it from a command line, you may get some insight into the internal workings but I probably haven't run it in 10 years.

no, you are right. it renders MULTIPLE times. it's crazy. HTML -> SGML -> RTF -> DPS. It's why it's sooo sloooow
