Hi!

Has anybody succesfully installed NextStep 3.3 inside a Parallels VM?
I use V3 build 5608:
http://cyclogic.de/NeXT/parallels.tiff

After booting from fdd 3.3 diskimage and selecting the usual scsi and beta IDE (primary/secondary) driver, i get this:
http://cyclogic.de/NeXT/NS33crash.tiff

The VM hangs up and does not access the CDROM. iso image or physical CD does not matter.

Has somebody suggestions or tips what i do wrong?

I tried the latest VMWare Version and it didnīt worked.

After that i got me an Openstep 4.2 iso-image and tried that.
This time it didnīt crash imidiatly but it never found the cdrom.

Can somone give me a tip what i do wrong?

Where can i define in VMWare wich IDE Number the drives have?
Or is it not possible anymore?

Hi!

Just want to inform anybody. I got it to work!

Thanks to Mike the Hack and his -v boot parameter trick i have now a Openstep 4.2 installation with 32bit color 1280x800 Pixel on my Macbook with parallels.

Really nice! Just have to get networking and sound in order.
Dose somebdy know how to configure the Macbook and Parallels to use Airport Wlan connection to my cable router? So that Openstep can use it to reach the Internet.

Has anyone found a way to install NS 3.3 on an Intel Mac using parallels, or do I need to get openstep 4.2 to do this?

I've tried several times to install NS 3.3 using parellels, but it always hangs as the first post states.

Thanks!

I tried VMware Fusion, and Parallels. Didnīt work!
I didnīt try VirtualBox. Had already Openstep working on Parallels.
Maybe that works?

But you can get a Openstep copy via "Esel". If you already own an old NS 3.3 or a modern copy of Mac OS X i think it should be alright. This world has much to many eulas and jurists in it.

OS 4.2 really works perfect and gives you even 32bit graphics like a nextdimension!
But mind: Boot after install with -v and disable graphical boot in the preferences.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know anything about "Esel". I do have a full copy of NS 3.3/developer/webobjects that I bought on e-bay. How do I get OpenStep from Esel?

Thanks for your help!
