Phew! This was an insane weekend.

Well, let's roll out the photos shall we?

Well left Thrusday afternoon and arrived in Vancouver that evening.
AS soon as we arrived at a hotel, I started with the final planning.

Nine hours later it was time to get up.

The first person on the list was a person names "Jax189".
He was a little older than me and was totally into old macs and gaming consoles. He also showed me his Nintendo 64 development system and after exchanging a little cash I left with a new phone, some computer parts, a dead dreamcast as well as a clone of a Panasonic Toughbook.

As an added bonus, for a Pepsi he also modded the firmware on my PSP!

After that we headed across the border with me taking random shots along the way.

Holy crap! A Jack In The Box!!

That night we stayed in an american hotel and I did...Yay! More planning and cash preparing!

After that, I went to bed as I was dead tired.

The next day we headed off to Seattle.

We passed through Seattle the first time and went to Tacoma where I picked up my "Buttons and Dials" set and then headed off to Renton to see another person.
Finally, the good stuff started to get into the car.

Our last place in the US was the most hectic.
I had agreed to collect what I thought was a moderatly sized lot of NeXT materials.

I horribly underestimated that.
Forget two or three boxes, there was at least five boxes and a library of books and software!. I collected so much stuff that I was sadly unable to accept a NeXT Color monitor that was dead and I planned to fit with an LCD screen (Rats!).
Still, It was A LOT of stuff! My dad was furious!

Well, we pretty much had to forget taking a photo of me in front of both Microsoft and Bill Gates' house just to get back to the border. Thankfully they did not hassle us with all the stuff we had.
We spent the night in Langly BC and the next day finished things off by picking up my long awaited Sirius Video system as well as do a few other chores in town.
We also took a walk along the Stanly Park Seawall.

After that we picked up my sister and headed home and arrived about two hours ago.

Here is the total haul:

Well, that's it.
Oh yeah, I found that ipod headphones only work in your ears.

Which company made the dial and button boxes?

There's a motherboard in there with what looks like four identical DEC asics side-by-side. What is this?

Can the MIT geek be identified? Smile

All the NeXT gear came from Rasnett.
He was a really nice guy (heck, he even told me what was wrong with the systems so I knew what to fix) and everything was in wonderful shape. He even kept the original power cables!

The mysterious DEC board is from an Alpha system and supposedly has a 400Mhz processor in it. I would have to contact the guy again to confirm this.

The Dial and button boxes were made by Silicon Graphics. I'm setting them up on my Indigo.

A Quadra 700! Let me guess: for A/UX, I suppose Wink

Nice pick-up indeed, I know what it means, driving around with computing hardware! Anyway I'm very happy right now with my brand new Asus Eee PC 900. This one will fit anywhere in my computing collection <lol>

What's in the box with the picture of guy with glasses (on top of the NeXT kit on the right of the photo)?

Make sure you get Chu-Chu Rocket for the Dreamcast - Chu Chu + 3 friends = awesome, even better than Worms.

The box says "The NeXTSTEP Advantage" and lists it's contents as well as mention that there is a video tape in the box. It's still shrinkwrapped however and I really don't want to open it.

Which board?
There is the IP25 (processors), the MC3 (a ram board) and the Sirius board (a digital video board)

As soon as I can get a linux box up with a working floppy drive OR I find some way to make raw disk images on my pc without any special floppy drives or cards.
I'm busy right now anyways trying to figure out how I can make a duplicate daydream box. I have another mac emulator (Executor) but it's not as cool and seems to be less mac-compatible.

Well now that everything has been put away I have time to play with my NeXT gear.

They look fun but they are a total b!tch to network so this is a learning curve.
