That's right, you can run Next 3.3 on a psp. There is a version of Bochs compiled for the psp. You basicly have to "shoe horn" 3.3 onto the psp, by installing it on a disk image on the pc version of Bochs, then copying the image and some other things to the psp.
15-30 minute boot time, i'm not sure. I just let it sit while i watched 2 and a half men. _________________ "You can't fight in here! This is the war room!" |

What Firmware version is needed?
Sounds like something worth trying and photos sound like a must. _________________

Any custom firmware will do, i used 4.01 M33-2. The actual psp file was compiled for firmware 1.00. It must repackged to work with 1.5, thus making it compatible with any custom firmware. Phat PSP's only afaik. I will post pictures soon (perhaps when it finishes booting!). _________________ "You can't fight in here! This is the war room!" |

Well I have never figured out how to load a custom firmware and right now I'm running version 3.90. _________________

pentium: it's pretty easy to load custom firmware, but you need a pandora battery and a magic memory stick.
jheis: a PSP is sony's portable gaming system (Play Station Portable). Bochs is a system emulator, like VMware or QEMU. (more like QEMU). _________________ "You can't fight in here! This is the war room!" |

Pentium, if you have anything lower than 3.52 it's possible to downgrade without a pandora's battery. Anything higher, and you need one.
It is also possible to mod a normal battery to act as a Pandora battery. There are plenty of sites that come up on Google.
If anybody's wondering why you'd want to run a custom firmware, they also allow you to run home brew apps (like Bochs), rip your own PS 1 game disks to play, and they REALLY annoy Sony. |

Okay. I have updated my PSP to the 5.00 M33-3 firmware and added the memory stick update to speed up reading and writing to the stick. Now comes the fun part of figuring out how to even install NS onto a spare 1Gb memory stick. _________________
