John Romero recently posted a newly found video taken during development of DOOM. It shows some brief pictures of NeXT Black Hardware and some of the development computers running NEXTSTEP. Cool stuff.

Canon made the magneto-optical drives and media for NeXT. In the early 90s, another NeXT owner and I arranged to buy the last of the MO cartridges that Canon had in stock. We then sold them to NeXT users (as I recall through the Usenet newsgroups for NeXT) for what was a pretty good price.
One of the guys who bought a bunch of them was named John Carmack from some company called id Software in the Dallas area. This was before Doom and no one knew about him or his company.
