I've been trying to install OS 4.2 onto an older PC that appears to have the correct hardware for OS to run on it. I can get it to run the boot and driver floppies, but after I select the drivers, it panics. It finds both my HDD and my CD-drive, but then it states that it is waiting for the CD drive to become ready. After a few seconds, it says disk not ready and has a vas_mountroot panic... If anyone could help me figure out why this is doing this, it would be greatly appreciated, as I've been working on this for about 12 hours now.

Update: I tried it with a different version of the Dual EIDE/ATAPI Driver and it said "Read attempt with no valid label" when it panicked this time. The drive actually spun this time, which makes me think this might have been what I needed it to do (I don't currently have the OS 4.2 Disk, only the floppies, I was waiting to see if it would work before trying to get the CD because I cannot find it anywhere). Is this what is supposed to happen in this situation? |
