All --

I noticed this last night while strolling down memory lane:

I ran up a Virtualbox instance, and despite some strangeness with ISOs mouting and the floppy drive (remove the driver when you run configure.app) it seems to work. I have 4.2 User+Developer and the Y2K User patch installed (I need to download some software now).

All in all, I'd rather have Black, Green, or Yellow hardware, but this is working!

Looks like I'll need to dust off my OPENSTEP software for a reinstall. Between this and some reports (from Ars Technica, of all places) that VirtualBox's BusLogic SCSI works wih the OPENSTEP drivers, it looks like the virtualization world has gotten interesting again.

I installed with EIDE and then applied the updated driver. The VM is lightning fast afterwards!

I got the driver from a guy who wrote up the process -- I'd be happy to pass it along into the archive, but i don't know how that works. For now, if you want a copy, PM me.

Also, this was on Apple's support site for download, but all the links are borked now (but some stuff is still there if you get lucky). So I don't think Apple will care too much about redistribution.

Rob --

I'll send it via email.

For those interested, here's the how-to I followed:

http://www.cs.stir.ac.uk/~kjt/software/nextstep/openstep-win.html

And here's the Apple Support page that used to have links to the updated drivers:

https://support.apple.com/kb/TA45371?locale=en_GB&viewlocale=en_US

I asked some friends who worked at Apple if they have access to the file archive, but no one replied.

Hello: We also have all the drivers here in the archives http://www.nextcomputers.org/NeXTfiles/Software/OPENSTEP/Drivers/

I've uploaded the driver you sent me here as well http://www.nextcomputers.org/NeXTfiles/Software/OPENSTEP/Drivers/Third_Party/i386/other in case it has modifications! Best regards Rob Blessin
