I've got a NeXTCube Turbo with an ADB Soundbox.

Now, I've also got a Belkin ADB->PS2 converter, but unfortunately the mouse conversion doesn't work nicely with my new shiny USB optical mouse.

Turns out that the folks over at www.geethree.com also make a PS2 to ADB adapter that does indeed work with new Microsoft Optical IntelliMice!!!

Yeah, so now I've got a PS2 keyboard and optical USB/PS2 mouse hooked up to my NeXTCube Turbo.

Time to put the non-ADB keyboard/mouse on the shelf for problem situations.

Thought others might like to know about this GeeThree device.

So how are you actually hooking these things up?  Is the keyboard using the belkin and the mouse using the geethree adapter, and how are you hooking up both to the NeXT?
Can this adapter be hooked up to a NeXT ADB keyboard directly just for the mouse?

The Belkin PS2->ADB adapter has two ADB ports. One for the input into the SoundBox, and the other as a passthrough for another ADB device. Just so happens I can plug the GeeThree device into that and leave the PS2 mouse connection on the Belkin disconnected.

hm, yeah, i wonder if this will work ok running through my NeXT keyboard. Guess I will find out in a week or two

I guess it should work through the NeXT ADB keyboard, as it should look like just another ADB Mouse to the actual keyboard itself.

What is the Belkin part number for the adapter you used?  Is it the Belkin F1D080 created for the OmniView KVM's?

Thanks,

Just ordered the Geethree PS/2 adapter! I hope this works :D Thanks again, alanh. I've been dying to use an optical mouse with my NeXT. If it does work well, I'm going to buy two or 3 more adapters and store them.

Make sure you are using Microsoft IntelliMice!

are the intellimice the only ones that work right? If so, I'll have to buy a black one. All I have are logitech optical mice.
