Hello NeXT Community: I could not resist when a free mint condition Power Mac G5 popped up on Neighbor yesterday.  It must have been destiny as I thought no way this is still available. I dropped him a note apparently I was #2 in line, then number one flaked out on the pickup last night lol so this morning I picked it up. Apparently they had 50 responses  blowing up in the cue. I'm laughing , not a scratch on it a rarity with these cases as I have 2 intel earliest version with gouges every where. Wow so I think it'll make a nice addition to my home museum collection as I think this was the last Power PC on Apple Boxes. I'm searching for articles on Rhapsody and see PPC 3 and 4 but no G5 yet. However this one will run the weird Mac OS 9 in a window and 10 combo, I'll leave he original set up intact and try tinkering with early early Mac OSX and hopefully Rhapsody if the processor is supported this ones spec is one of these 3 models https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=2061 , I'm in no hurry , he also just texted the password bonus.... stay tuned.

Unfortunately won't work. The firmware is incompatible.

If you got the G5 up and running, you probably already figured out that there's a semi-modern version of OS X out for it: Sorbet Leopard, which is kind of a hybrid mashup of 10.5 Leopard with parts from later releases of MacOS. I have successfully compiled Previous on my G5, but it crashes on launching due to a run-time error with the SDL2 library.
