I'm wondering whether there's anyone in the world who still has the equipment and expertise to fix a dim monitor by renewing the vacuum in the tube.  Any ideas?

Not an expert, but there might be an adjustment screw to increase power to the electron gun.
This will shorten whatever life remains.

When I first got mine, I too was a little disappointed in the brightness of the picture. But, situated away from the window, I did get used to it. A nice antidote to modern bright LED.

I figure when it eventually dies, I'll customize the chassis and glass to hide a VGA LCD within it, to preserve that cool look.
