In the 90s, there was one German language magazine that was all about NeXT. That was NEXTTOYOU. I'd first seen it referenced on a few FTP archives covering NeXT/OPENSTEP software.

The website is (surprisingly!) still around, albeit a little bit broken:

NEXTTOYOU Who's who

Here's a picture of Avie flipping through the pages of one of their issues!

I have yet to see a single one, maybe someone here know how where one can find and preserve them! Or perhaps someone knows somebody, etc. I figure it's worth prodding here first.  :)

There were several others beyond NeXTWORLD. There was a quarterly that came out after NeXTWORLD died. I forget its name, but was really cool/good.

Also a few of the NeXT User Groups (NUGs) had some newsletters that were quite cool.

Oh, one other thing that might be worthwhile is to do a complete download/archive of the Usenet groups.

Not sure if this is possible but I bet the NeXT usenet news groups would fit in under 1TB and having an archive searchable version of one on our local computers could be hugely useful. Those are probably the best archive of a lot of information that will not be found elsewhere.

Hi @eukara , this are the covers of issues #7 to #18 of NEXTTOYOU, but I doubt the magazines can be scanned without being destroyed (at least with my equipment & imho).

In addition here are two abo-cards and a letter that describes the state of the magazine after the Apple merger and the imprint of issue #7 ... They wanted to continue with the magazine, but issue #18 was sadly the last one.

Hi @zombie , the NeXT Usenet news groups have been (partly?) archived on the Peanuts CDROMs with indices for the NeXT Librarian (at least I remember to have used them this way).

Today the Peanuts Usenet archive can be (IMHO) best searched when copied to HDD with text utils like grep.

I remember that Google provided easy search through their Usenet archive in the early 2000s, but have no idea where this data can be found now.

I vaguely recall that @nuss what do not think happened is a more up to date archive being made. I would think you would want the archive to be 'complete' to be at least a few years after the laundry of macOSX. So maybe a complete Usenet archive to 2005 (or heck, even to present).

But perhaps that was done?

I'm also thinking, I'd want all the usenet archives including the binaries that might be in some of the posts. Not sure if that was ever done.

Wow!! Thank you @nuss. I never thought I'd catch a glimpse at them!

I looked into this a while ago, didn't find anything besides the other things that some of the staff had worked on (plus some sites about the local user groups they all seemed to be part of). Didn't want to dig into the personal stuff too much here - but needless to say some of them stuck together and worked on more Apple related stuff! Hopefully they can be preserved in some way, some day. Even if it's not a professional scan.

The NEXTTOYOU FTP site appears to be down, but I made a backup of the site back in 2011. Here's a large zip file of the backup in case it's not available elsewhere.
