Using DD to do an easy CLONE of hard disk

Has anyone tried using DD in Linux to copy a NeXT hard disk to an image file?  If so, have you successfully written it back to another hard disk?  Also, is there any way to mount this disk image (using UFS filesystem??) in Windows?
