This might work, about to try myself in Debian...

So, the CD of the "Macintosh" version contains the installer scripts of all unix versions.
However, for some reason, the actual files for the all NeXT platforms are not present on the disk.
(As a matter of fact, the box and the CD rom are reading that installers are available for many other platforms, but they are not explicitly listing "NeXT". Still, the installation scripts are present on the CD).

The image of 3.0.2 version linked by Rob is defective, if I try to mount it I get an error and if I force burn it to a CD, the operation fails, too.

Does anyone have a good image of the installer of the Unix versions?

Hmm, I can mount Rob's image on my macOS system, it seems to be a regular ISO9660 image.

There are two links in this thread, I've tried both. Download goes fine, but the image is garbled somewhere and I can't mount it. If I burn it, during verification phase I get an error.

You need to get Mathematica_3.0.0.iso_.zip from https://www.macintoshrepository.org/681-mathematica-3
You want the one that says it is 166.59 MB, I tried some of the other dumps on that page and they were missing the NeXT files (probably imaged incorrectly). This one worked for me with the keygen for windows in this thread. You need to find the app after installation, as detailed in the thread, also start the installer from the command line, do not simply double click the script file. I tested this in OPENSTEP 4.2 for Intel. Not sure if it will work for NeXT hardware but there you go.

That is what worked for me on Previous, from the command line as well.

Thank you for the tip. However, once the download is completed and the image unzipped, I can't do much with it, MacOS is telling me it's an unrecognized format.
Am I missing something?

You want to mount in the emulator, not in your host OS (MacOS).

So, I managed to create a working physical copy (CD ROM) of the image linked at macintosh repository.
By default, it seems as though Mac OS is not able to mount or burn the image, but using some third party tool I managed to.

It's now installed on my Cube 030 (took forever).

Still struggling with the password: the one in the original license certificate I have is not valid for this installation...

Try the generator linked in this thread.

Does anyone have an image of 3.0.2 version available at this point? The earlier shared link is dead and it is unclear whether it worked or not. Thanks.

I have a copy of Mathematica 3.0.2 but I'm not sure how I'd share it with someone in 2023....

Perhaps we need a semi-private NeXT fileserver/FTP site.
