Where is system configuratio (e.g. mouse type) stored?

I am having a second run in trying to get an old OPENSTEP VM back to life. I can boot the OS, but it does not use my new environment's mouse. I have a second OPENSTEP VM to which I have added the old VM's disk image, so that I can edit files there. Now in order to get things running I'd really like to find out where on my system the mouse type (as configured in Configure.app) is stored, so that I can take this configuration from my "rescue" system and transfer it to the old VM's disk.

Fun fact: ChatGPT confuses OPENSTEP with MacOS and keeps telling me to look in locations existing on my Mac, but not on OPENSTEP ;)

At boot:
Type ? and press Return to learn about advanced startup options

# boot with the below command

boot: config=Default

on NeXTSTEP 3.3 the /NextAdming/Configure.app/Configure data files are stored in
/private/Drivers/i386/System.config/

Maybe it's the same for OS4.2?? Hope that helps.

ChatGPT is, on a good day, DrainBramaged. Forget it exists.

Thank you, that was the real missing bit!
