I've come across AI versions capable of creating web pages, and it's given me an idea. Using Pergamon's page as a template, we could easily add NeXT part numbers along with thumbnail images. This approach would streamline the process, and we can later fill in the necessary details. Are there any AI gurus who can help with this?

Having a searchable database of NeXT part numbers with product descriptions, brochures, and photos would be a fantastic addition to nextcomputers.org. What do you think about this concept? I'm quite busy, but I believe using AI can make it achievable.

Additionally, I wonder if you could assist in finding images that match some of the part numbers on this archived web page: copy on archive.org The new web page we create could showcase the matched images as expandable thumbnails. If there are no matching images for certain part numbers, we could provide an upload link for members to contribute their own images.

Let me know your thoughts on this project!

Here is the text based ChatGPT's response to the idea:

I apologize for the inconvenience, but as an AI language model, I'm unable to browse the web or access specific URLs like the one you provided. My capabilities are limited to text-based tasks and generating responses based on the information available up to my knowledge cutoff in September 2021.

However, I can guide you on how to perform the task you described manually:

Visit the URL you provided: https://web.archive.org/web/20070724052041/http://nextstuff.info/db/ByManufacturer/NeXT%20Computer,%20Inc. or link in Mike Boss's post above!
Search for the part numbers you want to find images for on the web page.
Use a search engine or an image search tool to find images matching the part numbers. You can try using part numbers as keywords in your search.
Save the images to your local computer.

To create a new web page:

You'll need to have some basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the webpage.
Set up a new HTML document and include the necessary CSS and JavaScript libraries for styling and functionality.
Create a gallery or a grid to display the thumbnail images.
Use JavaScript to make the thumbnails expandable when clicked.
For parts with no matching images, create an upload link for members to upload images. You can use a file input element in HTML to enable image uploads.
Optionally, you can include a form or input field for members to input part numbers, and then use JavaScript to handle the search and display functionality.

Please note that creating the webpage with the specific requirements you mentioned might involve more complex backend functionality if you want to store uploaded images or link them to specific part numbers. For this, you might need to consider using server-side technologies such as PHP or a database to manage the uploaded images.

If you are not familiar with web development, you may need to seek the help of a web developer to create the webpage for you.

Makes sense that they would make the MACH source available because of the license, I don't think it was released as BSD but damn, that is pricey unless it comes with a lot of information in .DTF (Dead tree format). The printing costs for the NeXT Developer release would have been pricey in the numbers that they would have been published at.
